Valmet, a developer of technologies for the pulp, paper and energy industries, has signed a value-added reseller (VAR) agreement for gas turbine automation with Mechanical Field Support B.V. (MFS), a Dutch company that provides gas turbine services globally.

In this new partnership, Espoo, Finland-based Valmet will supply its Valmet DNA automation system for gas turbine controls and MFS will complete gas turbine retrofit projects, including automation system renewal.

“We have been developing our capabilities and services in turbine automation systems for several years. This partnership with MFS will boost our automation business in gas turbine retrofit projects since MFS will include our automation system as part of its complete gas turbine renewal and relocation projects,” says Kari S. Heikkilä, Director, Partner Business, Automation, Valmet.

Like Valmet, MFS operates around the world. It has worked with global companies including Shell, AES Kilroot, Myanmar Lighting, Vattenfall, SESB and Petronas.

“Our mission is to deliver our clients improved profitability in maintenance as well as to reduce downtime and decrease the total cost of ownership by supplying gas turbine spare parts, shop maintenance, field service, instrumentation, controls, consulting and training,” said Alex Peelen, director, MFS.

With its head office and workshop located in Heteren, the Netherlands, MFS provides services globally for the gas turbine market and all end users, including oil and gas installations, power generation plants and commercial marine propulsion. Its services include installation, commissioning, service agreements, inspections, overhauls, relocation projects, renewal of gas turbine control systems, rehabilitation projects, parts and repairs.
